...in 1978, the TIROS-N satellite was launched, introducing the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR). This instrument marked a significant advancement by providing systematic and precise Sea Surface Temperature (SST) measurements, greatly enhancing our understanding of ocean temperatures and their role in climate dynamics.
